Exclamation 3.55 beats 4.10 in drag race?

Last night I wanted to race my coworker to see how much faster a truck with 4.10 will accelerate over a 3.55.
But I won with my 3.55!
To make things more confusing:
My truck: old injectors (most of you know it runs poorly)
His truck: Brand new from Ford injectors

My truck: stock downpipe
His truck: 3" downpipe

My truck: 1996 Regular cab, long bed
His truck: 1997 Extended cab, long bed

My truck: open differential
His truck: Limited Slip

So what the heck?
We went from an idle, just about a tenth of a mile.
I won by half a truck length.

Was he ahead at the begining? Normally at 75 or 80 my 4.10 drags a little. What did he say?

No, has was behind the whole way. But only going a tenth of a mile we only got to 70 or so.
He just got his license last week, and he was about to cry I think.

Hard to say.
Switch trucks and race again, maybe it's the driver?

His truck: Brand new from Ford injectors
He has my condolances. Ford doesn't sell new injectors, they only sell remans from shops that typically don't know how to properly reman them. He'll be replacing them again soon, I bet.

Here is the main thing.
mods or not

if you say, both have 31 inch tires.
355's will win. IMO.

He running outa RPM's with lower speeds sooner.

It's really just all in the setup of the truck. The driver makes the biggest difference as well. But if he has 4.10's with stock tires, I see 3.55's whipping in that 'stock' setup you guys have. If he had 33s for tires, and you had smaller, then it would be more evenly matched.
You basically got more out of each gear then he did with the 3.55's and RPM's

I can see what your saying William, but I would think that with the 4.10's accelerating faster than the 3.55's you would be able to reach a higher speed quicker. My cousin's old truck had 3.55's and there wasn't that much of difference between the two shifting wise, until you were in OD on the highway then the difference was very noticeable. I think that the biggest factor in this win was the driver, he said that the kid just got his lisence so with him just recently getting on the road and geting used to a new truck I'm going to go with his lack of experience did him in.

Very true richard.
Thats why I was saying tire size.

If the 3.55's have a to big a tires on it, it will be slow no matter what. =)

Well he just got his license, but he's been driving for a year, lol.
That exact truck, too.
We have basically that same tire size also.
I don't see how the driver difference would matter that much in a race where there was no launch.
We just punched it and left.
I say that because when we went to do a 'launch' race, his inexperience left him spinning tires.
I still think that 4.10 gears should out accelerate 3.55 gears.
a=F/m

If you ignore shifting, when we took off both in first gear, I was already faster.
Right off the line!
That just doesn't make sense.

Well maybe his turbo is junk. The EBPV was stuck closed for SIX years.
His stubborn dad wouldn't let us look at it. That truck had all of fifty horsepower until my buddy and I started working on it.
He wouldn't let us do the Injectors though, which it sounds like he should've. LOL.

Its just so shocking to me because the whole reason I raced him was to see how much quicker 4.10s would accelerate.
