How fast does an alternator need to spin to work?

thought about it....thinking it would snap apart right away with a solid axle. I called a u-pull yard and they said 200$ for both front hub assemblies off a FWD car, so thats where i'm leaning...

50 MP "H" not MP "G" LOL....
I wouldn't be surprised if that 10hp diesel car was almost 100mpg.
I read an article somewhere on a car making 128mpg and it was using a 13hp kubota 3cyl.
I'm guessing my little vehicle, because it will be driving on gravel and grass most of the time might be around 30-50mpg but we'll have to wait and see.
128mpg sports car: (it was a 17hp kubota..)
