2004 F150 5.4 Lariat-Aux jack

Does anyone know if there is an aux jack anywhere in this truck. Maybe on the back of the radio or something. I looked everywhere. It makes me wonder because the stock radio has an aux button on the right side. Why would that be there if there is no jack.

To the best of my knowledge, there was no aux port added to the stereo until the 06 or 07 model year. I agree that the aux button seems kind of useless then.

No

2004-2006 Ford did not have a built in jack...there is a input capability

if you want to add a headphone jack (for iPod or similar), you have three choices

1. Pie Adapter - run about $100. They integrate with your factory harness and allows you to add a input using the Aux button. The Aux button is typically reserved for a cd changer...so it works pretty well actually

2. New aftermarket radio - self explanetory

3. Install a 2007-2008 radio from a Mustang/F150/Expy/And lots of other Fords. These radios have 3 wiring harnesses. 1 of them is a 4 wire harness that is exclusively for a 3.5mm input jack.

I recently put a Jvc Dvd unit into my Expy. Pretty easy to get into there and look around. Tons of room in the dash.

Alot of guys have bought a female input jack from Radio Shack and just custom wired it in. Which is essentially what the Pie Adapter does without any of the guesswork

some of this is true, but not all..... you cannot just wire a 3.5 mm jack into the aux port of the radio.... i tried, and FAILED !! there are actually 6 wires needed.... 4 from the 3.5 mm plug, and 2 from the CAN bus system. i tried to splice into the CAN system at the OBD port, and i even tried just to add 5 vdc into the terminals at the aux port, and nothing worked for me. you really do need an adaptor such as the PIE unit in order to feed into the aux port. the circuitry within the adaptors will work around the CAN requirements.

I installed a PIE adapter in my 04. I also installed a custom jack in the dash. Pics are in my gallery. It was about a 35 minute install. Pie adapter was $89 online and the jack and cables came from Radio Shack.

Hey did you have any issue using your cds afterwards? I've got a 6 CD changer and was told that the adapter would disconnect the use of cds in order to play music through my auxiliary. Let me know thanks.
