lookin at buyin a 64 ford f100 and its nice shape for a good price.. but it has a 57 stylside bed on it. i can only imagine how hard it would be to find a 64 bed so i was wondering if anyone knew weather or not if i bought some new 64 panels from like lmctruck or something if they would fit up on the 57 bed

Doubt it, 64-66 should work as a replacement and have matching body lines.

im just afraid to buy the truck and not be able to find a bed for it. i know its gonna need a hood and some other pieces . but other than the bed its all original. and it runs. from what i could see the floors and frame are good. few other small rust spots. like the bottoms of the doors. i might be able to get it for 600 bucks. sound like a good buy to anyone?

The Styleside bed used in 1964 that that it sounds like you are referring to is the same as the 1957-60 series of trucks was used solely on 4WD trucks from 1961-66. It was also used in 1963 and some 1964 model year 2WD trucks during the elimination of the unibody type of pickup trucks. The more common 1964 2WD Styleside bed(double wall) is the same used through 1966 on the 2WD trucks as well as 1966 F100 4WD...which also is the only 4WD that never used the 57-60 style bed which is a single wall bed.
But to answer your question...if its the same look and length as yours...any year will work.

Uni's were cancelled mid-model year 1963, so there is no such thing as a 1964 Uni.

When Ford cancelled the Uni, they used the 1957/60 bed on 1963 F100/250 2WD Stylesides.

No 1964 F100/250 2WD Stylesides came from the factory with a 1957/60 bed.

1957/60 Styleside beds used on: 1961/65 F100/250 4WD / 1961/66 F350 (all 2WD) / 1963 F100/250 2WD -after the Uni was cancelled / 1966 F250 4WD.

I wonder if the 1964 F100 the OP is looking at ... is really a 1963.

Take away the bed, what are the major outward appearance differences between a 1963 F100 vs a 1964 F100?

The grille, the shape of the parking lights and how the front bumper bolts on...and...that's it.

1961/63: The front bumper uses three mounting bolts per side in a tri-angular shaped pattern. 1964/66: The front bumper uses two mounting bolts per side.

I wouldn't think it would be too hard to locate a bed. I found a complete short box, with bed mounted tool box here in Denver for $150.00. All I wanted was the tailgate, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to get the bed tool box.

The hood (C1TZ16612Z) panel is the same: 1961/66 F100/700 // 1961/64 B500/750 // 1965/66 B500/700. B = School Bus.

No Ford Dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any.
-----------------------------------------------
Dennis Carpenter & Carolina Classics do not list a repro hood panel in their catalogs. I dunno if anyone else offers one...or not.

FTE sponsors: AUTO KRAFTERS / BLUE OVAL TRUCK PARTS / CAROLINA CLASSICS / LMC / MAC'S ANTIQUE AUTO PARTS / MAR-K / NATIONAL PARTS DEPOT.

Look thru the list of sponsors, top of this page. You may have to refresh to get all of them. Their online catalogs can be downloaded.

While Carpenter is not an FTE sponsor...all the repro parts sellers sell to each other...and to the general public.

The consensus is that Carpenter makes the best repro parts, but many of his and other repro parts sellers parts are made in China.

Before anyone chimes in and says otherwise...I spoke with Pat Ford, Carpenters "right hand man" at the 2010 F100 Western Nats.

I asked him where DC's parts are made, he said most come from China. He added (what I already knew), it's too expensive to make 'em in the USA due to high labor and material costs.

He also said DC's weatherstrips are made at their location in Concord NC (1 1/2 miles north of Charlotte Motor Speedway).

Broomfield, et. al...Only the double walled pickup boxes got the bedside toolbox. No 57-60 style pickup bed ever had any kind of thing offered as an accessory for it.
You are correct Bill...I thought I had said I thought some early 64s had the single wall bed during the unibody phaseout...which is what I meant to type...

Someone posted a pic recently of a 1963 F100 or F250 2WD w/a 1957/60 Styleside bed that had a 1964/66 tool box installed.

I forget who posted it...I remember the truck was white...coulda been Bill W.

Since Ford never offered the tool box for this bed, someone used "Yankee ingenuity" to install it.
