Need help. Autoenginuity in KC area?

I have been chasing an engine miss/chug/shudder for far too long now and it's getting to the point where the engine is running horribly and I am out of patience in trying to come up with a solution.

Is there anyone here on FTE who lives in the Kansas City area who has Autoenginuity that I could hook my truck up to and diagnose my sick truck?

Thanks.

Justin

Thanks, that's great! Only problem I have is I'm a new member here and am unable to PM. Maybe I can but just don't know how to.

Thanks for the number Payson! And nice speaking to you Drake.

If you all can suggest anything specific to test, please speak up. I've only done a bit of logging on my truck, so am far from an expert. I was thinking to try the buzz and contribution tests.

You probably already thought of this, but might as well look at ICP and IPR Duty Cycle while you're at it. And do some logging while it is acting up.

Remember, the buzz test is only an electrical test of the solenoids. If the CCT points at a particular cylinder you really need to pull the valve cover and check injector oil discharge. Also with the new grey CPS #3 & #8 tend to fail CCT.

I have the new international CPS that's dark blue with a purple o-ring. Are there any issues that anyone knows of that applies to this one?

Also, is there something regarding rotational velocity that should be checked when concerned with possible problem injectors?

Yes, the rotational velocity (PERDEL) readings can help you narrow in on some issues. However, like PaysonPSD said...I wouldn't hold too much faith in the readings on #3 or #8. The engine oil temp has to be around 140 before the readings will show and they won't show at all if you have any IDM codes present (1316 with SES light). So, eventually you are going to end up starting the engine with the valve covers off and looking at the oil discharge anyway, so you may not want to wait until the engine oil heats up. So skip the rotational velocities for now...

You probably already know this but I'll mention it anyway Be advised that the buzz tests fires all the solenoids all the time. What happens is it fires all the solenoids at once, then it fires them all 8 more times. It will start with cylinder #1 at full strength while the other 7 cylinders get a soft signal, then it moves onto #2 and so on. So, a soft sounding solenoid may not be getting any power at all, even though you think you hear it buzzing slightly.

It took me a while to figure this out myself so I thought I'd save you the trouble in case you didn't already know this.
