Exclamation SOMEBODY PLZ HELP!!!!!! 5 speed is only a 4 speed

ok...i have a 1992 ford f150 4x4 with a 302 5speed picked it up for 400 dolla nice truck all in all but no 5th or reverse been told oh its the sycro. but i should still have reverse with out it right? since there isnt one on the reverse... been told its the shift tower went to 4 junk yards today and they have all been robbed..... where do i go now what do i do i have a little money to put into it but not a lot.... plz help!!!!!!!

oh and it is a mazda 5spd ford used..

The Mazda M5ODR2 uses shifter forks for 1/2, 3/4, and a smaller one for R/5th. The rails in the cover and the forks themselves can wear out. I think you can get the parts from Ford or take a look online. This site and some of the Bronco sites have info and exploded views of the tranny. Check the top plugs for leaking too.

It's possible the shift lever isn't located correctly, because I just had this problem

I pulled the lever out while dropping the tranny to change the clutch. Don't think I had the truck in neutral. When I put it back in, I had 1-2-3-4, but wouldn't go over to 5 or R. Put in neutral, Pulled the shifter back out, wiggled the spring in the top of the trans, dropped back in. Gravy.
