Socket size for 2008 Escape Caliper bolts
I guess I don't have the right size box wrench or socket for my recently acquired 2008 Ford Escape. I guess it's a little less than 3/4" for the front brake caliper bolts. The used car dealer was nice enough to but new brake pads on, but must have been too cheap to throw some grease on the bolts and back of pads, etc. So, now I get to do it since the squeaking is awful when I come to a stop. Sounds just like my old co-workers Volvo, which I think all squeak like that.

Sears usually has loss leader prices on wrench and socket sets.
Why would a 2008 Escape have needed new brake pads already? Lots of city miles as a taxicab?

Thanks for the info. I bought a metric hex bit socket set, and figured out I needed 9mm, which wasn't included in the set I bought. Argh! These brakes are a little different from brakes on my last vehicle. It is the caliper slider pins with the 9mm allen I really need, and have found you can't buy a 9mm in any stores I visited that sell metric hex bit socket sets. Sears, Lowes, Home Depot, Harbor Freight. The guy at Sears said he thought the 9mm was left out of the socket sets since it isn't commonly used. Frustrating. I ordered a 9mm online from Sears, so it's on the way.
