Is there a trick to removing "cigarette" power point?
I have removed the dash hook panel and I would like to get the cigarette lighter power point electrical connection loose and remove the power point without removing the whole center finish panel. The electrical connection is either really tight, or there is some trick to getting the connection loose.
Before I put too much force on it and break it, has anyone done this?
Also, after the electrical connection is loose, how does the cigarette power point come out. I have tried pulling on it and the bottom is loose but the top is not.
Thanks!

Do yourself a favor and just remove the center section. It is very easy to do and will save you cracking it. To remove the cigarette lighter you just work it out by wiggling it out of the hole side to side and pushing pretty hard. If you are holding the dash in your hands you don't have to worry about cracking it nearly as much and can get a better handle on it. Nothing is holding it in except a pari of plastic ears.
If you are removing the power point on the far left it is only held in by 3 screws I believe.
If you just need to remove the connection, the tab is in the shape of a Y. Depress that hard and pull.

I can't remember exactly how the plug comes off, there is some sort of locking tab on it. The power point it in there really tight. There are some tabs (may just be one tab) around it that lock it in and I had to push on it pretty good to get it out.
EDIT: It probably would be easier to do it with the lower dash out. After you get the top dash out, it is only 4 or 5 bolts (can't remember exactly) to get the lower dash out.

Well if I crack it, then I'll have to buy a F650 panel from ya Clay!!! Just have to tell Mama, "Look, it broke, I gotta order a new one."
thank you gentleman. I think I will wait til tomorrow and take the whole panel out. I am routing the power cords for my radar detector and XM radio in the dash.
