83-84 F250 front hub..Spindle nut looks like 6slot.

I am still staring at the right side hub. For the lockout,a circlip a, a spring and a gear out. Every body said it takes the 4 lug socket (KD 2467)NOT..lugs dint match slots. Well I borrowed a 6 lug KD 2770 and it sorta wanted to fit but not real good. Don't want to chip Shrapnel off nut by having tool slip. This Nut seems to have 3 pairs of slots that the 6 lug seemed to fit. Just not sure why it wanted to slip out when going to crank it.What am I doing wrong. Yes I am a NOOB on axles but not about to give up. also, no 44 or 50 on bottom of pumpkin. A diamond w N C inside and AB 216. Not original parts? AAARGH.

a 4wd conversion with a jeep M44/216MM front axle maybe?
should have come with D44 reg cab.or D50 super cab them years.
you may want to find yourself a D50 or D60 to put under that thing.these girls are a bit heavier than a jeep.

Well...xlt.without a picture to show( photogallery nxt thing to do) I can only describe. Does the marking on pumpkin make any sense. This is a 6.9 idi strt cab. Not a surprise if a oddball..guys who had it replaced a broken axle. They're good mechanics with quite a boneyard and a collection of older ford 4x4. Nobody uses 2x here in N. NV.

I CONFESS.. To total STUPID ATTACK. Since I have never worked on a 4x4 I just plain flat dint know what I was doing. The deal w the snap ring was what I was lookin at. Man, I finally Slept on it took my pick n popped the stinkin snap ring and LO out came the gear..behind which is a perfectly normal 4 slot lock nut.which btw was loose and I undid it by hand w my perfect 4 point tool. GOD I feel like a retard. Thank you everyone for trying to answer my dumb uestioms.

hey i was just thinking of you when i was rigging up my e-fan for my trans cooler just a couple hrs ago.
the reason was,because i opened the drawer with that tool in it.i was gunna dig up this thread and see how ya made out.
well don't feel bad.them snap rings and Hubs are pretty simple,but unless you've done it before it can really be confusing in there.
next time,you'll be able to do it blind folded.

i forget now though;
what are you going after in there? was it ball joints,U-joints,or wheel bearing time?
if ya get stuck on anything let us know.

ah,i looked it up again.
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-it-a-d50.html

ahh,rotors and bearings.be sure to check the U-joints while your in there.
