installing a EFI 460 in a 83 F350
I have an opportunity to purchase a fuel injected 460 from a buddy and would like to pull the carburated 460 out of my 1983 F350 and swap them out. I am not sure what year the 460 is that my buddy has but i believe its around a 97 or so. My question i have for you guys is i need to know what its going to take to make this engine work in my truck. Do i need to replace my fuel pumps to provide more pressure, how hard is it going to be to wire up the the necessary sensors and harnesses, and how, and what all does my friend need to take out of his truck so that i can make all this work in mine? (by the way we are swapping engines so he can make his a mudder truck) Anyway, i dont think it would be too hard to do this but any help you guys might have is appreciated. Thanks

Look up FTE user named Garbz, he usually hangs out in the '61 - '66 Slick 60s forum.
He put an '88(?) FI 460 into a '64 F-100, and did it quite successfully. He used the entire wiring harnesses, relay, sensors, and even the dash gauges. It looks nice and professional too.
You will face the same issues he did since you are trying to replace carburetion with fuel injection.
You will want to learn the reason he named his '64 "Christine" though.

I know Garbz, I met him at Lynx Lake in Arizona at a Chapter meet. He is very smart guy. Just because he did it, doesn't mean that others can do it. He has a lot of years of experience.
You need the whole donor truck because you will need everything pretty much. Your in for many hours of work. I believe you will also need the transmission unless both have a manual trans. You will need the complete cab & under hood wiring harness.
