Ford does not service(sell) the TPS by itself. have to buy the whole assy.

So tell me, Ed, when did that change take place? I purchased the brand new OEM separate sensor from Kenny there at Y2K last spring before you cam back over there.

as far as I know the sensor for the diesels has always been part of the assy.
I would like to know the part number of what he sold you to confirm, but I just double checked and didn't even see a old part number in catalog.

Do you have either real or statistical evidence that the products that Robin mentioned are NOT as reliable as the "OEM, Baby" ones that you sell?
There's a pretty healthy upcharge to buy Ford's piece, in this case possibly from three to five TIMES as much.
Seemingly, you would want to instill a sense of VALUE, not one of "highway robbery".
Can you assure us this time that it's the correct decision to go with the factory part?

I'm just giving robin a hard time, having some fun.
The 99-00 I sell for $130 the 01-03 for $77 so why not go OEM.
It most cases OEM products are the superior product to use on our trucks.
but when money/time is tight I believe you just have to do what you have to to get back on the road.
I never really have used dorman products so no first hand knowledge.
why drive a pinto when you can drive a Lincoln?
plus it my Job to push the Ford OEM line, you guys wouldn't accept anything less from me.... would you?

I just went out to the garage and found it in the box.
Ford Genuine Part Number DY-967, F4SZ-9B989-AA, Potentiometer. It was Item #3 in Order #18690131, $35.48, order confirmation email dated 11/12/08. I can send you a copy of the email if it will help. I ordered this sensor at teh same time I ordered the front and rear mounting brackets for my 2008 center console.
I did some further research and found that this same part number was used as the TPS for a number of Ford-Lincoln-Mercury vehicles (F150, Escort, Mustang, Ranger, Explorer, Mountaineer, Navigator, E150-350 Vans, Excursion, F250, F350, Thunderbird, Taurus, Sable, etc.) and for both gas and diesel engine configurations for years ranging from 1995-2007.
What Kenny told me at the time was that it was a part that was "new" for the diesels in 2002 and that when my truck was built, the "builders" must have had some leftover parts from the earlier model pedal assembly configurations and I ended up with an older version of the pedal assembly just as an effort to use inventory.
Hey Ed... in the meantime... would you consider taking the part back and giving me a refund since it was not the right part from the getgo, or has my procrastination put it into a situation where nothing can be done at this point? Obviously, since it was not the correct part, it has never been installed in anything at all.
Believe me, I'm not trying to twist any arms... just seeking a small positive on my current cash flow situation. I can always sell it on eBay if I have to. Just let me know.
