Sorry have to jump in cause i have people telling me the same things. There aint nothing wrong with a lifted 2wd i've had thoughts of it but not the funds. and hey don't knock 2wd's i've taken mine up and down the same mountain and off-road trails as the 4x4's do around here. granted i do have my limits in it but you can actually get pretty far in there and back out with the right tires and weight i give the guys i hang out with with 4x4 a run for their money. and i agree first things first get it running right first then go at the other mods you want to do i was always told and didn't listen until i did it "you can polish a run down pos till it shines like a brand new copper still, but it'll still be a run down pos." gotta love old peoples advice.

Sorry had to throw my .02 in and i wanted to subscribe to the thread.

4x4 just means you get stuck further in...

Subscribed to thread, I'm interested in the engine build too.

Conanski, I may have access soon to an HO from a 91 Lincoln LSC. It's fairly low mileage, about 90k or so, and seems like a good foundation for a quick and dirty build for my F150.

Since this engine already has the HO cam, can I assume that I could bolt on the GT40 heads and intake, and approach the same 300 HP?

Yep same result, the only difference between a HO motor and a truck motor besides the cam is that you get forged pistons in the HO, but the CR is the same so the HP potential is the same.

To answer your question, why not. It's form over function in this instance. It's my truck and I think it's bad ***. What's the difference between a lifted 2wd vs a lifted 4wd that never sees the dirt? My truck my build my choose. Again thank you for your input.

I don't mean to sound rude when responding to someones input on a question. But I have been a member of many different forums of different interests and I am always curious why folks take the time to respond with something contradicting or irrelevent to the OP's question. You may not understand the why but may have knowladge of the question and that is the valueble input that is saught after in the original asking of the question.
I agree with your comment about big lifted trucks that never see dirt unless its a show truck. Even then, I don't really see the point. I was just trying to tell you that the setup your going for is going to leave you with a truck that has very little use, since it will be underpowered for what it is. I'm not saying you can't build the truck you want, but it needs to be setup right. I am just trying to save you some grief.

By the way there is nothing really wrong with lifting a 2wd truck a little. If your truck was 4wd with a 302 I would give you the same advice.

If you want your truck to be able to turn those big tires like 37s then go with a 351 and work it up a little.

Thanks man. That was another route I was thinking. But since I already hav. 5.0 HO wasting away in the garage I thought it be best so use it. I would like a 351 for sure and I haven't thrown that idea out. I just need to source one and whatever components I'd need for the swap.

Sorry for the delayed response. lots has been going on. Looks to be mass air. I have 2 pipes coming off the TB that go into one large pipe and then into the meter next to the air box. I assume thats the MAF meter. Looks just like the one on that was on my mustang but smaller. The trans code is "U". Guess thats the 4R70w? don't know if thats a good trans or not. I know my uncle was pulling horses in a 5th wheel with this truck before he passed away. i have also changed the whole lift idea. Just going to 33's at the most and thats if i lift it at all. Also, i am going to just have the motor in the truck rebuilt and do you advice on the heads and intake and cam.
