fuel pressure test (please analyze my results)

Please analyze my test results. I changed my filter this morning. It was very dirty. Then I took the truck to AZ and borrowed/loan a fuel pressure tester. It took 8 cycles of the key to get the koeo pressure from 0 to 62. I then started it koer pressure 64. I turned it off pressure went back to 62. I let it sit 6 minutes pressure went down to 54( I had the gauge on finger tight with no teflon). So what do you think how long do I have on the pump?. Should it takes 8 cycles to build up to 62?

8 cycles seems a little long. If you cycled it quickly then that might account for something. But everything else checks out pretty good. As it stands now, the pump sounds OK to me. If you haven't done so already, try running a quality fuel injection cleaner through to help "clean the pipes".

I gave it a few seconds between cycles it took 7 cycles to get to 60. I was going to pull the bed in the spring to do a few things. maybe I will drop a new pump n then or at least replace the sttrainer on the unit. thank for the feedback

Sounds to me like the pump is dying or its internal check valve is leaking. I have found that the OEM pumps are the best. I've tried a couple other cheaper brands and had the problems return, almost like the aftermarket pumps are made half dead.

I would second the motion about the check valve. It's leaking down too fast. But what are the other symptoms? Is it just taking too long to start? Might be the pressure regulator leaking.

it starts pretty good. the one symptoms is a bit of a hestiation/ misfire on occassion when you are driving The hesitation is not when you are are excellaring fast . I disconnected the ground on the battery yesterday for about an hour. I thinkk it seemed to run better no hesitation for a while. this morning the hesitation was there a little. I will disconnect the battery ground again tommorrow( I have to get an inspection first) and see what happens. I was researching how the pcm works. trying to see what sensors work on default before the pcm gets reprogrammed. I thought I read somewhere that as long as the FP does not drop more than 8 psi in 5 minutes you are ok. mine dropped 8 in 7 minutes.

fixed for now.I just tested it again and koeo 62. it went right up there with one cycle. koer 64. I guess the new filter, some injector cleaner and driving it cleaned it up. I bought a new strainer for the pump and i will put that on in a few months when i take the bed off for some other work...thanks for your input
