C4 trans leaks around shift selector shaft
Anybody know the procedure for replacing the o-ring that's supposed to be in there? Can this be done with the trans in the truck? How about a part # ???

C4 trans leaks around shift selector shaft
I think you will need to pull pan, and remove valve body. Then you can get up to the shift linkage. Unbolt the large nut, slide shaft out and change seal from outside. A quick once over in the trans section of a good Chiltons or Haynes wont hurt to get familar with what to expect. You will have to relocate the neutral saftey start position of the switch, if so equipped, when reassembled. Very simple if you can read and follow directions from the manual. When all else fails RTFM
