ok i bought this 91 ranger with the 2.3 the guy had changed most of the elect. and fuel parts and was still missing on one most of the time and after buying this heap it made it about 1 mile running poorly then just quit now it acts like it has no spark any ideas on where to start would be great and also how do i pull codes from this truck
Does the Check Engine light come on when you try to start it? If so, see if you can get the truck to a parts store to have them read the codes and post those codes here. That will give us something to go on. Can you be more specific on what parts were changed? Also, why did the previous owner change them? Give more info so we have something to go to work on.
the parts houses round here wont read a obd1 because it always ran like that had a miss and never could get it fixed is there a way to read the codes with a obd1 reader
so far have seen the new parts: ecm, fuel press regulater, several sensors like temp and oil press.
the map and tps are still old
here is what he wrote me in a email when i was looking at the truck
1991 ford Ranger. 4 Cyl, 5 speed, extended cab, short bed. Has extra set of back wheels with studed snow tires. I've put lots of parts in this thing to include ALL ignition and fuel parts. I just can't make it run right. Someone out there can, I'm sure. The parts I put in it were all needed and I can't get anymore codes out of the replaced computer. (I have the origonal). I spent more than the asking price on parts
Sounds like the 212 is your problem. I believe the spout connector is near the battery tray on yours.
The spout is a pull apart connector with 2 wires, check the wire for a bare spot that might be grounding out to sheet metal. has the ICM (ignition control module) been replaced?
My code list jumps from 319 to 326 so i have no idea what your 324 would be.
