The wife comandeered the dent after supper to haul groceries. Filled up ithe whole bed, later told me it had been six weeks since she bought groceries. There goes my parts budget for the month! But I still enjoyed cruising through the parking lots.
well been awhile but finally located my motor for mine, lucked into a 429 cj for it. and the best part is traded it for a set of aluminum wheels off a bronco that were headed for the scrap pile, gotta love bow tie guys who dont know a good motor when they got it, am now looking for a 5 speed to go behind it.
i just got done putting all new rear brakes on, the old ones were rusted and didnt work, for awhile i wasnt able to stop all that great. now i have all new hardware, drums, pads pretty much everything. now i need to rebuild my carb.
I have re-installed my rear-end, leave springs and painted my frame all in International Harvester Red.
that's awesome man. very well done! all i did was lift mine another 2" in the rear and throw the 36's back on it. i also got a cb for it, but i need to get an antenna for it. also put on some 4" tips and side exits. they're like megaphones, and they sound great.
Pulled my driveshaft, replaced the aft seal on my transmission, replaced the forward oil seal in my 9in diff., pulled my rear axles, replaced gasket on rear diff, installed axels, replaced U-joints, installed driveshaft, and drained my oil. I am tired...no one ever told my that differentials are much heavier than they look. Tommorow I get pull my water pump, pull my brake lines and start to bend new ones. It should be a good day. I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I think two maybe three more days and I will have her on the road!!
Got the engine ready to install tomorrow - its finally all coming back together. The flat top pistons, new intake, cam, timing set, and carb should make the truck a little more lively.
Just got my carb apart today, but don't know whether or not to trust the tag that's on it.
It says it's a 2100 Autolite D1AF-JA carb (71-73 mercury V8 carb), but I'm not sure wether or not I should start ordering parts for it yet because that could be any given tag thrown on it.
