Re-timed the engine so that it starts better when hot. Was timed at 26* retarded (I think.) Moved it to 12* and it starts a whole lot better now. Next day it's not raining... Oil Press and Water Temp gauges as well as finally assembling the rest of the interior.

At 26 deg. it was way advanced, surprised it would turn over enough to crank when it got hot.

I was right! I knew it wasn't an FE, as I have two of 'em...
Last year for 360/390s in Ford Trucks was '76.

You are correct. The FE was first introduced in '58 as a 332ci for guess what car? Yepp, you guessed right, The Edsel.
It was first available in Ford Trucks in '65 as a 352ci. All FE's have the same block, even the 428 Cobra Jets.

No you don't. The last year was '76 (Read above, I know quite a bit about FE's, I have two of them)
Either the truck was a '76 (A '76 has the '76/'77 Grille and the Emblems on the fenders, a '77 has them on the cowl, so you can tell a '76 from a '77 easily) or it's not an FE, if indeed the truck was a '77. People do swap in FE's, because they are one of the best engines Ford ever built, alongside the 300ci Inline 6.

As for what I did to my truck, I went and got my Power Steering Bracket for the '76 F-350, so I can install that correctly, the previous owner redneck rigged it up.

Just bought and drove it home. Steam cleaned the engine bay and underside so I can chase any leaks. Changed the wipers. Full tuneup, oil change and front disc pads next even though it doesn't need any of it.

Pretty happy with the purchase for $7K it's a mint 74 Crew 4x4 with full rebuild engine, trans, and front/back axles (reciepts for all of it - all done professionally). 73K original miles.

Gotta bail that bumper and get a tailgate, bail those side steps, and de-cheese the interior. Only mechanical issue is the np205 isn't mounted right and maybe balance/rebuild the mid shaft after raising the np205.

Really excited.

Just hope I can keep my foot out of that 460 or my gas bill is going off this month. But when that baby starts singing, it's all rock and roll!

I replaced the thermostat, tweaked the timing, repaired a malfunctioning rear fuel tank sending unit and adjusted the rear brakes while I was down on that side of the truck. Then I drove it to the top of our street and took some more photos of it. (Here's one)

Going to drive it to work for the rest of the week. By the way super unleaded fuel is up to $4.55 here in the Bay Area, my hobby is getting very expensive but it's still cheaper than flying. (My old hobby and still a passion)

All the research I have done in the past tells me FE was offered untill 77.5.

I looked at my donor cab and box. I also looked at another frame with the newer power steering system. Just one more thing to think about.
