Dave,
The answer to your question is pretty difficult to answer with any kind of accuracy.
This is because you/we don't know how well the maintance was kept on the first 117,000 miles, which will have a very direct effect on the next 117,000 miles.
However there are a number of V-10s runing with well over 250,000 miles on them.
If you do a quick search here on line you will find list of things to look for when thinking of buying a used V-10 and any quirks the motor may have for that model year. You can also have a Ford dealer pull an Oasis report which will bring up a report showing the service history and warranty work preformed at a Ford Dealer service Dept.
Good Luck.

I have 183,000 on my 99 250SD CC LWB 4X4. It burns one quart of oil every 6,000 miles, and has since new. I run Mobile 1 synthetic, KN oil filter, KN Fuel filter and have since first oil change. I bought it new in 2000. My oil pressure is still excellent, as well as compression. I have had to replace several coil on plug (COPS) on it, blew out the #5 plug 1,000 miles ago, helicoiled it, and the low speed idle motor at 30,000 miles. Other than that, that is all I have had to do to the V-10 since I bought it. I wish I had bought the 7.3 diesel when I bought the truck, but it was the last 1999 on the lot and I bought it for $28,000 out the door. I prefer diesel for the mileage, but I DO LOVE MY V-10! If you like everything else about the truck, trust the dealer, and can get a decent grip on the maintenance, buy it and don't worry about the V-10. It's a great motor with a long life expectancy.

I have a 2001 V-10 that I bought used with 90,000 miles on it. I changed all the fluids from the transfer case to the differentials to the spark plugs and fuel filter. The truck runs great have had no problems. I even had the clunking sound coming from the slip joint in the drive shaft. Took it out greased it and no more clunk. I even did the power steering fluid. The truck also wanted to steer funny never tracking center when the steering wheel was free. I changed out all four ball joints and the seals on the axels and now it steers great. All information for the work came from the site. I would not be afraid of a V-10 with a 117,000 miles on it.

thanks for your feedback!
Thanks for the feedback.... glad to hear you've been so happy with
your V10 - the more I hear that the better I feel!
Later today I will try to call the previous owner as the dealership
gave me his contact info. after first checking with him to make sure
it was o.k. I talk with him. My guess is that he'll tell me it was a
good truck also, at least V10 wise as they tell me that is what he
bought again to replace it!
