OK, I'm looking to swap an O/D tranny in a 79 Ford truck, can someone tell me the difference between these 2 tranny's?? I've done and AOD swap before, but I heard the AODE is better than the AOD.
Also, what do AODE's come in, trucks. cars??
For non-computer/electronic swaps, (the "E" part) the trick is to use the AODE and 4R70W parts in the AOD transmission. '88-'93 AOD's from V8s and trucks are the better boxes. Early models were troublesome. If you've AOD'd already, you know about the TV cable.
So basically I would use the internals from the AODE and put into the AOD, right? How many parts do I need to get out of the AODE, I know about the input shaft, but what else?
Well, I guess here's where the wheels come off--I'm not a transmission man nor do I play one. I posted the links to give you information & maybe a way to go on the AOD.
There are a couple of transmission guys here who might be able to tell you part-by-part how to build the AOD, maybe they'll be by.
