good evening all, i had a few questions about a swap im considering. i have an 84 f350 quad cab 4x4 with a 460 and a c6. I just picked up a 92 f350 4x4 with a 7.3 and a zf 5spd. the 7.3 has an ats 088 turbo kit on it. Im pondering the idea of dropping the diesel and tranny in my 84. i know i got to swap the core support, and pedal assembly for the clutch, and fuel tanks, my questions..... do the fuel senders from the 92 work with the 84 gauge (ohms wise) would my factory tach from the 460 work with the diesel? or would swapping the 92 dash in be easier? and anything else you guys might have in ideas or problems???.... thanks! justin
I think it was summits site that had the ohms listed for replacement sendors, you might look them both up and compare them, but I bet they will. I'm not sure on the tach if not diesel instrument clusters for the 84 are pretty easy to come by.
I am wanting to swap an 88 dash into my 86,but haven't got a clear answer if it is a bolt in or not.

star i have a brother inlaw that did that swap and said every thing fit perfect he said 1980 - 95 will swap
The core support from the 92 will not work with the grill/fenders of the 84. When I did my swap I tried to use the 86 support on my 88 and it didn't work. Also I don't think anyone offers the diesel support for any of the older trucks any more. I used the lower portion of the 86 and welded it to my 88 support. It worked very well just takes some good measuring and a little fab work.
The rad on my gasser was aboot 6" shorter than the diesel one. The diesel lower lined up pretty good with the gasser and I only had to do a little filling in a couple places. But if you don't have much fabbing experiance I would find someone who does as it is a critical part of the front structrual integrity.
fabbing is no an issue, and im not to worried about the core support, theres a few 80's diesel trucks in junk yards around here that still have the core supports in good shape. i was trying to fighre how hard the interior would be, i just spent a good chunk of money rebuilding my 460 and it runns great.....so im just trying to weigh my options..... gas or diesel......
That one is simple diesel lol. They get better mileage over all and can run at peak power longer than a gasser. As far as the interior I just went to the local yard and found a diesel cluster from the same era and swapped it into mine. It was only about $40 and I didn't have to chande out the whole dash.
i have a complete katana 750 i wana put in my banshee im curiouse about the mounting and how that goes? i can do all the wiring and all the other stuff i just dnt know how it would get mounted?
