this oil pan saga still goes on!! 351c with MII

Hey guys, i was told i need a rear sump pan for my 351c to fit my Mii issue. I bought one that happen to be chrome. It did not fit so i was going to make my own out of a stock pan. I was told to use a 78-79 f150 4x4 pan. I call all the junk yards around me no help there! I even called Napa to see if they could get one, nope. I was last told to call a radiator shop? THey where to look into it and get back to me.

Anyone have a source of where i can get one or better yet have one? Thanks!!!!!

351c-c6 in 55 f100

i have a 54 f100 351c-c6 combo. the pan i have is a 78 bronco 4X4 400cu in.
i have a tci mii suspension. i used trans-dapt motor mounts to get motor lower between the rails. i have 1" clearence between the front of sump and the back of the crossmember and 1" between the top of the crossmember and the bottom of the front of the pan. now the problem. the lower part of the firewall is going to have to be moved back about 6".i haven't cut the cab yet but i see no major problems with that. hopefulyin the next month i should be doing that. hopefully this is some help.

I have a 400 with a Fatman MII cross member, I took the 400 pan cut the front and rear sump, I used 16 gauge sheeting and made my own rear sump pan. I used an 351 rear sump pick up and welded the threaded end and the brace on. I have a picture in my galley.

I had the problem finding a pan for my 351 C also. I got the pan off a front wheel drive Bronco at Pick&Pull. The rear sumps also have special bolts holding the oil pump or a special neck so be sure to get those too.

You certainly can build your own pan if you're a good sheet metal welder. The tricky part, though, is building a matching pickup from the oil pump. The bottom face of the pickup needs to be about 1/2" from the bottom of the pan sump. If you can utilize an already-built pickup tube, take careful measurements, and build your own custom sump pan from that, you should be good to go. Another thing to keep in mind is warpage. Have an old block that the pan can be bolted to fully before cutting and welding, to help it maintain it's shape. The last thing you want is to build the thing, only to realize it won't bolt up to the botom of the block correctly.

I was going to make a jig that i would bolt the pan to than start the welding. I would do all this with my Tig welder. I have another pickup tube that i took off my buddies blown motor for parts. I just need a pan to start with. The one i have is chrome plated and i dont want to mess with the chrome when welding it back together.
