The transmission is fixed.. They took it for a test drive.. They said the trans is awesome but the truck has a "miss".

Tomorrow I'm going to take it for a test drive and see if it corrected the issue I've been having.. Unfortunately I have to wait till the 1st till I bring it home and can troubleshoot the "miss"..

I might be late if you already went for a test ride.. Can you start it up and take off you oil fill cap, Flip it over and set it on the top of the hole. Does it stay or blow off? "blow by Check"..

Hopefully you don't have blowby. But it was an easy check if you were going over to take the truck for a test drive.

What does it mean if it blows off or stays on?

If it stays on, thats good.

If it blows off, it means there is combustion pressure getting into the crankcase area of the motor. Usually would mean low compression in a cylinder or cylinders.

I am watching this thread to see how your tranny situation comes out.

Good Luck, Ken

I didn't update.

I did take it for a test drive.. The thing shifts all nice and smooth.. The hesitating is still there.. It is a "miss" It does not have the surging/jerking like it did.. But it's still there..

I should be able to pick it up next weekend..

I was just thinking the oil cap blow test would be quick seeing it is at the garage and not a whole lot you can do until you get it home. But i missed asking before you went for your test drive. As Ken said.. It is just a quick test to see if you pistons are ok. Blows off, Bad. Stays on. Good.

Glad to hear you trans is good to go.

Can you describe you symptoms more clearly? Might raise some flags for the masters on FTE to discuss.

Some interesting threads on surges. Not sure if it is your problem. But you asked about it early in the thread and Robin suggested ... TPS

I'll read those threads and see if there are similar to my issue..

As for my problem.. When the engine is cold from a dead stop if I'm at partial throttle the truck hesitates/stumbles.. Like a gas motor without firing on all cylinders.. once I'm moving and on the gas it runs normal.

Edit:

Read the threads.. Hmm.. Makes me wonder if I have a TPS issue.. The dealer scanned my truck and so have I.. No TPS codes. When I get it back I'll will be testing the TPS with the volt meter and see what reading it gives..

I have seen a couple people parting out F250's somewhat local to me.. I wonder what they'd be willing to sell the assembly to me.

Did you get your truck fix? If not it could be your TPS going bad. I had a similar problem . Truck feels like its missing , Bucking, surging. If you have a bad TPS it will not always give you a code.

I've been thinking it was the TPS myself.. I'm trying to find a write up on how to test it with my multimeter. The ones I've seen so far don't give the correct color of the wires.. I have the single plug 5 wire TPS.

Vic you can check it with an ohm meter. The best way is to use a scanner to where you could read voltage. You must have a consistant reading there should be no drastic change or spikes in numbers. I took mine apart to test it and when I put it back it was a little hard to put back so I pulled plastic bracket that it sits on and installed it together. Both parts when on lot easier. Truck is still running good for now. I think the problem could be in throttle assembly. My throttle feels a little sticky also. Hpoefully this helps.

Roger:

I know.. I should read a constant voltage across 2 wires and then across 2 others I should read voltage changes as I push the pedal down.

I just don't know which wires should be used to read what...
