I searched the forum and found a thread about seats in our old Fords but it was more of a general thread.
I'll be specific.
Will a 1975 seat frame fit in a '65?
I don't have the arm rest in my truck.
I'm looking at aftermarket 40/20/40 seating and the lowest model year they make frames for are the '75 model year.
I'm just wondering if that frame will be a direct bolt in or will I have to make some modifications.
My other option is to use the frame I have out my '70 donor and buy the seat for the '75? Will a '75 seat bolt directly onto a '70 frame?
I was posting the same question a couple weeks ago. At that time I learned that the wider (post 66' seats) will bolt in BUT, if you have door mounted arm rests you either need to remove the one on the passenger side (this presumes you are tipping the seat forward with the driver's door opened). Or open both doors in order to get the seat to tip forward. I measured the seats in my 66' against the seat in my 68' and the 68' is quite a bit longer. If you do the swap, please let me know how you like it. Thanks.
Have a 65 F100 with 4 speed. The 68, and possibly 67, and later are wider seats. Therefore, should be able to take the backs off later model seats and install on 68 and later bench. Requires removing an arm rest, I say the heck with the passengers. Salvaged 87 40/20/40 Lariat seats and found the tracks would not fit and thought it was because of the 'high hump', or the 4 speed transmission tunnel. See from cranemec1's comment the tracks on 80 and later seats have to be swapped. O'well learning by trial and error can be a pain in the backside. So john , when asked what I was talking about in simular post earlier, now it registers , I can see said the blind man!!. Anyhow, ended up also salvaging 68 seat, swapped the 87 and 68 back. I preferred the 87 contoured bence seat so swapped the padding and seat cover for uphostery shop to use as a templet. Not sure if it would be possible to swap 65 tracks to the 80-96 bench, seem to recall tracks on my 65 were either welded, or riveted, certainly would open up additional choices. Anyhow, very pleased with outcome.
Tracks are "Moveable", gotta cut some rivets. I have an 85 seat on 66 tracks in my 66 DD. The hangar queen will get a set of 78 split back recovered in leather. I think almost any Ford pickup seat from the 60's through today will fit in a slick.
I have an 86 F-250 with a ripped seat that I want to replace during my restoration. I found one from a 92 F-150. What would I need to do specifically to swap them out? I'm seventeen, just graduated high school and this is my first Ford and my first restoration project so I will probably have tons more questions later too.

Remove the 86 seat, put in 92 seat...they are the same, easy swap
with some simple fabrication i fitted the seat out of a 2001 dodge - 2 buckets and centre console with SEAT BELTS!!!!! - i don't like driving without them.
