Exclamation headlights ,no headlights,headlights,no headlights

only my high beams work and they come on and stay on sometimes then others they flick off and on about every 30 seconds. Im kinda goin wtf .. AND i believe that just the headlights not my running lights go off but im not positive... and I only have 1 working plow light so when they go out im limited to the 1 plowin light .. help PLEASE!!!

its your switch on the dash.this happened to me and thats why i did the headlight mod after i bought the new switch.it will never happen again

Sounds like your overheating the light switch, had that problem in my 75. I would replaced the switch and did the relay mod, works great now.

the headlight mod consists of running your headlights with relays in turn taking the power load off of the headlight switch

warozz you can just call me the FTE ninja lol j/k!!!!!!!!!!

lol i can decyfer joe now ... kinda.. so my switch is just overloaded? like the actual one i pull out ? and can i just getta replacement at like autozone or somethin?

yup you got it,but i do suggest doing the headlight mod in the near future it made a difference on my truck.

switch is like $30. To do the mod, wires and relay prolly another $20.

I had a similar problem with my truck. Ended up getting a heavy duty headlight wiring kit from LMC truck. Worked like a charm and I haven't had a problem since. Cost me about $40 shipping included.

I can try and get some pics in the morning. Pretty straightforward install that only took me about an hour.

The mod rupe and I are talking about is the same as the LMC kit, only you can buy the parts separately at Napa for about half the price and the instructions are in the link.

my 85 used to do the same thing and it turned out to be the dimmer switch on the floor. bad connection in the plug

I seen those floor dimmer switches cause problems, especially in trucks were a lot of mud and water get in the cab. Way more common though is the headlight switch problem that Ford couldn't seem to correct for over 30 years lol
