91' F250, Full float axle, oil in drum
I recently picked up this new to me F250, which had fairly grabby rear brakes that would actually stick a little when fully stopped, then break loose when accelerating away, pretty distinct feeling, you'd know exactly what it was if you drove it. Anyway, looking at the backing plates from under the truck I could see the passenger side had oil all around the rim on the inside, not enough to drip out, but it was there. I figured it was probably all over the inside and cooking itself. Took off the wheel and pulled the drum, sure enough the entire inside assembly was coated with thick gear oil that had been cooked into sludge, man it was on everything.
Unfortunately I don't think I have a socket that fits the spindle nut, I doubt it's the same size as the one for my Jeep's D30 outers, so I couldn't fully take it apart to get to the axle seal, but I'm pretty sure it is shot which is why it leaked, and why my brakes stick.
So, anyone know what size spindle socket I need to get to pull the axle shaft so I can replace that axle seal then do a brake job on both sides? Thanks guys

This article has some good info as well as some insight to what the axle nut sizes might be: Axle Seal Replacement
