A/C Question ' 78 w/factory A/C

My A/C sometimes freezes up at the lines on the firewall where they go into the air box (evaporator) particularly the high side line the one that has a valve in it I don't know the name of the valve, I know the system is fully charged, and blows ice cubes out of the vents until this line/valve freezes up, any ideas?? THANKS!!

You may have some moisture in the system that will freeze up and cause a restriction in these lines. To cure this you may have to evacuate and recharge the system. Or the evaporator is freezing up (particularily in moist climates)so add a little heat on your temp control, for a few minutes, to try and keep the evaporator free from icing up and see if you Ice cubes return to flying out the vents.if the later helps you may just have a moisture draining problem in the evap box.
