People who made my topper have been bought out by a bigger company, so anytime I have needed even a small part for the topper, I'm out of luck. Since the topper's hatch closes against the tailgate molding, if I had a contoured trim piece made & installed, it would rest against the tailgate without letting the topper hatch sit against the topper and latch shut. With the dogs I have, that's not an option...that hatch must be secure.

Scraprat,
Are you saying the '99 molding will fit all of the holes in the '08 tailgate AND match the contour of the '08 sheet metal? I was thinking that wasn't the case. You have a PM with my phone number if it's easier to speak with me directly.

Thanks

No, this is the stock '08' moulding piece. I was going to take a picture of it but wanted the truck tailgate back as it should be.

The pre '08' gates are rounded and not flat at the top.

Agreed. However, the top of the molding is not the issue for me, with the exception that on the '08 the sheet metal underneath won't allow for a pre-'08 molding. My issue was the molding aspect on the face of the tailgate. It is this aspect of the molding that the topper hatch closes against, overlapping the molding. Despite an '08 tailgate fitting a '99 truck, due to the difference in molding lines and being unable to put a '99 molding on an '08 tailgate, I'm stuck with a tailgate that is useless to me

None the less, thanks for the help in getting me to come to this realization
