SCT installed with DPF delete $1900 at a dealer

I have an 08 350 6.4L. Dealer nearby has a pro shop. they install SCT livewire DPF delete etc... total package is $1900. Does this sound reasonable? they also continue to cover the truck.... however i heard you sign a waver so not sure how much they back it but they have done many trucks and none have come back... ive been thinking spartan but if these guys do it and cover it then maybe i go for it. my main goal is to increase MPG

That is about $400-500 overpriced if you ask me. I was able to get the Dashdaq, the CAT/DPF delete pipe with 12 tunes for $1400 and change. I have also noticed great increases in MPG, if I can keep my foot out of it haha.

Do you monitor every parameter your OBDII has to offer? To you monitor anything with the bulldog? I think when you begin to add power, and you are using the truck to pull heavy loads, it is extremely important to pay close attention the your trucks vitals. That is what I love about the Dashdaq. I monitor EVERYTHING haha

Spartan is the best period. From the product to the customer service you can't beat it. It's relay Spartan or nothing as far as the 6.4 goes.

Thanks for the info. Did you install your own? it was suggested by someone that i get CAT/DPf kit as its easier to re-install if you goto dealer. of course this dealer says he'll cover things BUt if i do myself and re-install then i dont have to worry about warranty. Do you have SCT or Spartan? Does SCt/Spartan leave a trail of any sort? Also how much did your MPg increase?

There has not been anyone caught using Spartan tunes on their truck. Be smart and return everything to stock. That way you won't risk loosing your warranty.

Like mick said returned my truck to stock many times and sent back to dealer and no problems. And as for the $5-$600 tuners you are wasting your money. Tried them now they are sitting on the shelf collecting dust. Sold Edge for $300 just to get rid of it. Save yor money and call Spartan. Your not only getting a tuner but something that is not tracable once set back to stock. That is worth the price when it saves your warranty.

I initially just wanted to do a DPF delete, however the gasket separating the DPF and the CAT was a pain in the *** to remove (or so I was told). Either way I am happier without the cat. It is very much a do it yourself job, however I would not do it myself unless it was nice and warm out. Wrestling that Cat/DPF right now by myself would be like wrestling a freezing gorilla... no thanks. As far as MPG, you will notice a decent increase. Some guys notice great increases, so not as much. Hand calculated, in the summer, running the 275hp tune at sea level with no load you can definitley break the 20mpg marker. But you will be having too much fun to think about mpg!
I also only run Spartan.

Spartan or SCT

Thanks for the input. I know on the SCT you can flash and remove you dont have to mount the unit. Can you flash with the Spartan and not mount it? i want to flash and leave until i tow or goto dealer and really dont want anyting mounted on dash etc... Can you run spartan with DPF on? i know MPG will not be as good with DPf on but also less work replacing everything. Thanks for your input as im getting educated before i drop $$. My goal increase MPG 3+.

Yes you can. But if I were you I would use it. It already has the gauges setup to alert you if anything gets out of limits. You get 4 dpf on tunes with the basic unit and 8 others. You can mount it with the suction cup mount that's easily removed..... And yes, you should see at least a 3 mpg increase.

Thanks for the reply. Assume i really need to add a cold air system if I add tuner. Appears you have S&B and AFE. the other crazy part of me is thinking about trading in and finding an 09 for a good deal but go from lariat to King Range like you have... really like the king ranch but probably will wait and get that on my scorpion in 2012 after the bugs are out thanks again.

No, that's with it being removed. I have never ran a dpf on tune. Know of a few that do, but there are not that many of them. For me I was getting 9-10 stock and now I'm getting anywhere between 13.5-14.4 with my 4.10 rear-end.

Mick, if I were to run a full set up w/dpf/cat delete and intake, obviously the exhaust has to be put back to stock before going to the dealer, but what about the intake, will they hassle me for that or is it o.k.?

Everything has to be put back to stock. They are just hunting for reason to void warranties and they can do it for just about anything. It's just not worth the risk!!!
