Smile obd 4.9l to eecIV 5.0 swap

OK here is my dilemna--My 1996 4.9l F150 4x4 has finally laid down on me...I have a nice 302 efi from a 1985 model that I was planning on using in an older f250 project....with that being said, I guess u guys know what I am wondering....can I put the 1985 302 efi engine in my later model 4.9 F150 without a mess of wiring to deal with? will the sensor plugs in the newer truck work with the older engine? Thanks for any help.

This will require some rewiring but it's more because you're going from a 6cyl to an 8cyl not because of the age difference in the motors. It will require an OBD-2 V8 computer and the addition of injector wires for the extra cylinders and you will also need a remote TFI distributor and a balancer with the sensor ring.. this part was unique to the '96 5.0 motors.

so find another 300-6, you will be happier. the 302 doesnt make a good truck motor and would be even worse in a 3/4 or 1 ton.
