I am not big on the whistel so that makes me happy. Does your exhaust have a muffler?
Yea. I did the stacks on the truck when I got it back and it sounded the same as before. Some videos I've seen of the powermax definently don't sound like mine. Something is different
I put a powermax turbo on a truck this summer with a muffler and the whistle is as much or more than my straight piped truck, but I do agree that it's probably the muffler and how it "flows".
I get more whistle from under the hood then I do coming out the tail pipe. I've checked for leaks all over and can't find a one. It's so loud it's almost annoying. I had a seven inch stack straight piped but took it out cause it was too loud. Bad thing is I lost 2-3 mpg taking the stack off which is kinda weird.
something is up, i have another one on my 07 and it still has a mbrp muffler on it and it still whistles just not was loud as my 06 with a straight pipe
What cuts the whistle more the cat or a muffler? I would love some whistle on my 04 but I still have the stock exhaust and planning to upgrade the exhaust, but I will need to leave the cat in being in CA. I cant barely hear any whistle at all...
I've heard the cat takes the most out. You should find an extra cat and gut it, that way you pass visual inspections, and most pass the smog test without the cat too.
I just went through the smog thing here in CA and they looked for the cat. So how do you gut it? and can you attach it to an aftermarket exhaust like the MBRP? Do they make a turbo back exhaust that retains the cat and also sell a cat delete pipe you can pop in place of the cat? then just swap out the delete pipe for the cat at time of inspection?
