Forget the 2 antennas, one cancels out the other, just mount one good base loaded antenna up high, the roof is best.

Some people have 2 setup just to "balance" the truck out. One is basically just a "dummy" and not really hooked up.

Dummy or not, it interrupts the signal, truckers do it because the trailer blocks the signal from making it to the other side, but practical applications are best with one.

I have two and have had two for years with no problem. Both are working and not a "Dummy" antenna. I am now starting to have problems with the connections and I will most likely replace them with one.
I tow a fifth wheel and won't be able to mount it in the rear like I wanted so Mine are presently on the outside of each mirror.

To run dual whips and functional, you need a real good CB peaked and tuned then the antennas tuned in for optimum performance. I have a Uniden LTD made in the Phillipines, sought after due to being the ones that put out the most watts, a trucker friend had it done, then gave it to me. I need someone to get on my roof with a wrench to remove the broken base from the mount, so I can replace it, but have been considering a different arrangement so I can remove it when height restrictions exist.

Most antennae are verrry close in "working right"...The TYPE makes for the signal strength and range. Some people think bigger is better - NOT true.. A good small one will output a cheap BIG one. The place mounted will affect the signal > rear mount has a stronger front signal + front mounts have a stronger rear signal + twin mid mounts tend to have an "X" pattern signal. A single center-of-body mount will give the best overall signal. There are base / center - top loaded antennas. Another thing to consider is WHAT wave-length is the antenna set for ? OR just get 1 that you like the looks of. Not trying to confuse the issue, but there is a bit of "science" involved- specially when it comes to base station antenna.

That's what I'm gettin at, dual whips on a cheap store bought CB is pissin into the wind, does not work as good as a single antenna, for occasional use, use a magnet mount and put it up top and center.
