lifter bore seperation

I'm starting the phone-calling process trying to source out a roller cam, and i'm going to need to find some roller lifters to go with. does anyone know what the lifter bore seperation is? my block is still sitting in another state, so measuring is a little difficult... i know that the lifter diamater is the same as the SBF, i just need to try and figure out bar length.

I'm not sure, but they may be talking about that slot that the roller slides up into to keep it from spinning around sideways, wouldn't that put the hurts to a roller set up!You could always run to a parts place and measure a new lifter, but that won't tell you the length of the bore.Good luck on your project. You may be able to design some kind bolt in guide plate in the lifter galley?Or maybe the roller lifters have sides that extend down and are kept in alignment by the cam. It's been so long since I looked at a roller type lifter,I may be way off base.I'm sure someone on here is up to snuff on roller lifters.Maybe I've got it all wrong and your wanting to know the distance between the lifter bores, that I really don't know. You may figure it out from a cam if you could lay your hands on one.

most the retrofit lifters come with alignment bars that keep the roller in the correct orientation. the problem is that the bars are different lengths because the distance between the intake and exhaust lobes is different. what i need to figure out is the distance between the lifter bores for the intake and exhaust lobe per cylinder.

I kinda figured that after I thought about it,it was late and my brain was half asleep.Too bad you couldn't have someone close to your block go over and measure it and call or send the specs. If I had one torn down,I would check it for you.Maybe someone on here will come through or maybe you could call a place that does cams and see if one of them has the spec. You could use lobe center to center, then subtract the full diameter of the bore to end up with inside to inside distance. If a cam company doesn't have lobe c to c ,I would wonder about them.Good luck with things, someone on here sure ought to be able to help.

Check with a cam maker that makes cams for the 300. You can't build a cam shaft with out knowing where to put the lobes. You might get lucky and it will match a 302.
