Just curious if any one knows if there is a difference (73-79) between F150 and F250 chassis.
Are the chassis interchangeable or is the 250/350 heavier??

Matt I have a 76 1/2 to chassis that you can have, if you come and get it. It's in central North Carolina, beside I-85.

The frame on my 74F250 4wd is a "narrow" frame it is only 34" wide so I would check the width of the frame you are thinking of using against the one already under your body.

There are two different frames that I know of, I have heard rummors of a third though. From '73-'83 I believe it was the F-250 crew cab, the F-250 4x4's and the F-350's had the narrow (34") frame. These narrow frames are just straight from front to back, they do not widen after the engine compartment. I have four crew cabs that are all the narrow frame. Hope this helps.

I heard there is an article somewhere on converting to four wheel drive, it has all the steps and what parts are required. I want to make my long box crew cab a 4X4. Any info would be great.

I have a 79 4wd, and the difference is the frame width. 78 and 79 have a wide frame and some 77 do also in the 4wd line. I had to change the cab on my 794wd and I used a 78 2wd. Bolted right on except for some minor wiring differences, and the steering shaft (engine compartment) was different, so I had to change the steering column. I am also haveing a problem with the wiring differences pertaining to the electronic ignition.
I have plenty of left over parts if you need any. I live in Oregon, and if you need info, I'll tell you what my own experience has been.
