its getting worse, my 2002 4.2 f150 after starting will run fine for a minute, then start surging and almost dying and running rough till i drive it and get it warmed up completly. autozone gave me four codes:

p1131
p1151
p0171

Your upper intake gaskets and isolator bolts need to be replaced. You have a vacuum leak and as the truck warms up the gaskets and upper plenum expand from the heat and seal the vacuum leak. Thats why when warm it runs fine. I did the job on my 03 myself and problem solved. Had the exact same symptoms.

 

replacing those gaskets and isolator bolts did the trick, thanks a bunch! Thinking about doing the same to my wifes 2000 explorer 4.0, do you think hers has isolator bolts like mine?
