Diesel Fuel Gel test - Pwr Srvc, Howe's, Schaeffer
#18
Would it be asking too much to put a couple quarts of oil out there as well, and do a pour test while taking a video of it? I'd like to see Schaeffer 7000, 9000, syn & dino Rotella, and say, Motorcraft, Delo, and Mobil1 & Delvac. I'd even help finance the experiment, if you'd like. I've been wanting to do a vid of just dino & syn Rotella, but you have an "advantage" of colder temps than my freezer makes.

Great work Rich, thanks for the time and effort to do the test.
It's interesting that the fuel started clouding at the temps it did, even with additive.
I was pretty nervous during a week+ long cold spell with high's of 0* driving the semi truck. It's cold blooded, but I kept 20% #1 in it and it ran great. Kinda losing confidence in any additive, especially with the variability in fuels anymore. Seems like the only sure way is run #1 and/or fuel heaters.

Thanks Rich and reps to ya!! I gelled this winter after buying fuel the previous night at the only Gas/convience store for 30 miles while elk hunting. Lost half a day hunting and I did put DK whilte in before filling. Temp was about -15. Previous year got down to -25 but had no problems.

I'm just getting technical on you.
You can recharge the system if you have the right stuff and if you do it right, you can have that freezer at -4.
The only reason I know is because when I over charged the system it kept going up. I asked the teacher about it, and he said "because its negative you dummy!"
I'm like. oh, ooops.
HAHA
I had looked away for the second when it went from 3 to -2
I was shooting for 1 on the temp probe.
That was the "i dont have a scale" method.
You can charge a system by dumping X weight into the system, or by presure on the system.
I just dont have a set of manafold gauges to do it.
