My TC Locked up! Please tell me its something stupid...

So i have been trying to figure out my hard start/no start problem I've been having w/ my 2000 F350 with 143,xxx miles and I got to the point i was going to have the batteries load tested so i was backing it out of the garage and when i hooked it in drive it stalled... so i restarted pulled drive again and it instantly was in gear... brought the engine down to a low rpm and was spinning the tires in our snow covered driveway... so i was like wtf? put it in reverse and it acts normal... put it in drive and she may as well be a standard with the clutch let out... The truck was warm as it had been running for at least 40 minutes... I dunno i'm about fed up with this thing and i just got it in october...

Sounds like a trans.problem.

I would think if it was the TC it would lock in reverse as well.

Disconnect the elec. plug on the side of the trans,if problem goes away there is a processor/wiring failure,if not,it is in the trans.

(some one correct me if I am wrong)

If the Purple/Yellow wire (pin 54) of the PCM is shorted to ground it will
lock the TC but I don't know why it would not be locked in reverse.

Do you have a flashing OD Off light. That can mean a tranny problem.

Well in the amount of time it took for me to come in here and write up my post the TC straightened out... Cause when i was done i figured id go out and unhook the batteries and see what that did but b4 i did that i started the truck hooked her in gear and it was all systems go... I hate problems like that.... but the good news is my batteries checked out when i drove it to town to have them load tested..
