Question 1960 cab swap to high boy 70's range 3/4 ton chasis

1960 cab swap to high boy 70's range 3/4 tonchasis
but not sure of the differences in frames, body mounts, wheelbase etc.....
---What I want---
Heres what I want to do. I want to take my 1960 f series cab from a 2wd and swap it onto a 3/4 ton 4x4(highboy) chasis from the 70's preferably 78-79 range. The box I don't need to worry about because the truck I end up with is going to have a flat bed.

Is the cab swap doable? Or is it a Lost cause?
---Realistic---
If a 1960 f100 cab to 78-79 or earlier 3/4 ton 4x4 chasis won't work what would work and would be a better choice for a 4x4 chasis that would work with the f100 body asside from stock.

Thanks,
Jason Henry

The 3/4 ton highboy went away midyear 1977. Early 77 back through 73 and earlier had a narrower frame than mid 77 through 79, and that would work better for you. One difficult problem might be rear axle position with respect to the wheel openings in the bed an the later models had the wheel openings closer to the rear.

Thanks for the replies guys.

3414 - the box worried me as well, but no matter now that i want a flat bed the box will be non existant other than a flatbed. Rear axle shouldn't cause any problems as i can design the flatbed to work with the wheel positioning in the rear. You said 73 to 77 would work better is that only as far as the wheel positioning in the rear or would I be able to mount the cab easier on a 73 to 77 4x4 chasis?

telefunkken - Yeah i already saw the crew cab you talking about pretty sweet looking truck. Kind of the inspiration for my 4x4

Never done this before what would I have to do to mount the cab only to a say 1973-77 frame would the mounts be close or is it pretty much total fabricate quite a few years in between..

Thanks

Late 77 to 79 had a wider frame and was designed to ride lower than 73 through early 77. I think the frame width on the 73 through early 77 will match your cab better.
