93 f-150 speedo not working and tranny not shifting

I have a 93 f-150 4x4 auto trans and it doesn't shift correctly and not at all above 30mph also the speedo quit , are they associated and where the heck is the sensor? I can't locate it... thanks

Yes they are associated.
The sensor would be on top of the rear end.

I thought that was it but when I went to the parts store they showed 2 sensors one for speedo another for ecm and the one on the rear end looks like the ecm sensor and the speedo sensor he showed me looks like the regular cable insert that we used to have only with a wire plug instead of cable however upon inspection there is no hole on the tail shaft that would accomodate this. really confusing am I missing something?

Its on the rear axle in the differential housing.

Thanks I knew that was there but the guy at the parts store said there were 2 sensors anyway I will replace this. I replaced it when I put in a new rear end or rather I took the one out of my original rear end and put it in the new one since it didn't have one, probably yanking it out was just enough to make it fail as it had many many miles on it. Thanks again! hope this fixes it X
