Question. I was about to install a stock intake manifold ON s 351w when I noticed a possible problem. The stock intake manifold and the gasket have a different number of holes they all line up correctly but there is one opening at the rear of the gasket that has no corresponding hole on the manifold. One side of the manifold has a hole that is plugged (rear hole) while the other side has no hole. both gaskets and heads have holes in that position.
Does that mean anything?
OK... you going to have to plug the 4 extra holes in the intake that are 1 place in from the 4 corners or you'll have a nasty water leak. Your best bet here is to tap the holes and put some pipe plugs in there with thread sealer.
can I just put an after market intake on with 87 heads? I was planning to add aftermarket heads later but I have these that have been ported. Will the stock (ported) heads work until my budget wll allow me to add after market heads My budget is suficant to purchase an alum. intake now but not the heads
