I have a F250 5.4 with 37,000 miles on her. I just started to have what sounds like a valve tap on the passenger side of the truck. the noise starts after the engine worms up a little. the noise is not bad at idle and gets worse when driving. it seams to get better and worse while driving. I keep hearing about the cam phaser but cant figure out how to diagnose it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm out of warranty so i will have to pay cash to fix it.

The truck seems to make much more noise when in drive with a load on it. when in N the noise is not there all through the RPM range.... help
