gt40 head bolt size

Im in the process of rebuilding my 5.0 engine, and im ready to bolt the gt40s on and notice the heads have 1/2 holes and my bolts are 7/16. Can I just use 7/16 hardend washers or do i have to have the 1/2 bushings?
