Another DRW to SRW?

Hi guys, I have a question about switching from drw to srw on a 1997 f350 4x4 dually.
I am considering trading my 1994 4x4 f350 turbo diesel dump on a newer powerstroke f350 4x4 that has a flat bed and dual rear wheels. I would like to just buy a 94 to 97 f350 4x4 powerstroke with srw ,but canít seem to find anything with reasonable miles/ price. This has led me to think about this trade offer.
So finally to my question, aside from wheels and tires, what would I be looking at to switch from drw to srw? I have read 9 pages here on the topic and get conflicting ideas, most of the swaps seemed to be on 2 wd trucks. I gather that the frames on drw trucks are narrower but donít really see that as an issue due to the flat bed(or I would think one could drill out new bed mounting holes anyway) I have seen one or two post that claim all that is needed is to remove the spacers on both the front and back and bolt up new rims.(sounds to easyÖ)
What I am mostly concerned about is, getting involved in switching axles or the likes.
I would welcome any insight or experience with this type of swap. (97 F350 4x4 drw to srw)
Thanks, Dave

The first question I have is the pickup a original pickup(with a box) or was it a cab and chassis? Because if its a Cab and chassis, the rear axle is the same width from wms to wms as a regular single rear wheel pickup. If its a regular dually that came with a box from the factory, the rear axle would be about 6 inches wider from wms to wms, but you could just bolt regular wheels on it. As for the front axle, being its a 4x4, you would have to pull the front hubs off and replace them with srw hubs. There is no spacers to unbolt on eather axle. It isn't all that hard.

hav24wheel, thanks for your input, I will find out if it was a cab/chassie set up, I bet it is.(my dump is)

As for the front hubs, from my reading here I would need front hubs off a srw f350 or off a f250 HD(with the bigger hubs) is that correct?

Thanks again,
Dave
