Steering Wheel Upper Plastic

I have a 93 F150 and I would like to change the rubber boot on the automatic shifter and install a new bulb for the OD indicator on the end of the shifter. I need to remove the upper plastic on the steering wheel but I cannot see how to remove with without removing the steering wheel. Can anyone tell me what I am missing? Thanks

There are screws in the lower half of the steering column cover. Also the ignition lock cylinder needs to be removed, although I have replaced the shift boot with out doing so, but it's difficult. To remove the lock cylinder turn it to the run position and press the pin on the bottom, which is accessed through a hole on the lower cover.

That is the lower plastic. I did that today and changed out the ignition lock cylinder. I need to remove the top plastic one to get to the boot and to change out the failed bulb.

At this point, without the lower part on, it is just sitting on there. Nothing else should be holding it on.

Gotta remove the lock cylinder you just installed and then pull the plastic off. May have to do some fancy stuff with the shifter? It is automatic. Manual shift is easier..
Nothing in the way. After that your good to go.

I changed the shift boot on mine last year. It comes off exactly like TexasGuy said.

Thank you guys. I am so glad to have you. I hate forcing anything plastic because it breaks so easy after 20+ years. I will do that today.
