popping/knocking noise

I am a 97 F150 2WD that has a popping noise coming from the rear of the truck when I turn on to an uneven surface. Sounds to me like it is something on the body moving. Springs are aligned and tight and I do not see anything obviously loose. Any suggestions here?

Welcome to the forum!

Need a little more info. Can you define the popping noise with a little more detail?

This is a loud solid feeling pop (sounds like a spring shifting) There is now evidence of the spring shifting at all. It sounds like it is definitely under the rear end some place or at least at the rear of the truck. I will check the rods.
Several people have looked at it and no one has got it yet. I appreciate your support and the forum...keep up the good work!

Spider gears have already been changed..

Did you ever figure out the cause? I seem to have a similar issue on my 1998 xcab 4x4. Only notice it at low speeds while turning. Everything is tight or at least seems so.

There are a couple possibilities. One is that you have a broken leaf spring. It can be tough to see a crack, but you might want to take a close look. I had one "let go" while I was driving. Made a pretty big bang when it jumped out of the pack. The other possibility is a broken sway bar end link up front. Not as likely if the noise is definitely coming from the rear, but they are known to break and cause a "pop" when turning.

No, I have not solved this issue. Definitely in the back portions of the truck and it is a solid noise. I will look at the leaf springs. This only occurs when I turn into or out of something unlevel, like my driveway every time I come home. My driveway is higher than the rode. I will look up front too, but I really think it is in the back (sounds like some hits the frame rail with a hammer!
