F350 ExtCab-Is there such thing?

I've been looking for a '97 powerstroke. I want an f350(for solid front axle) and the extcab. I've been looking and see a fair amount of 250 extcabs but realized today I don't think I've seen a single f350 extcab, did they not make them?

I have yet to see one in the 6 years that i have been looking for these trucks. Which i think is stupid but hey i didnt design them. What I've always wanted to do is buy an f-150 that is an extended cab short bed and swap the body onto a regular cab long bed F-350 frame. But I cant seem to ever find a decently priced that is in good enough shape to be worth it.

Ya i figgured that it would be a little bit longer but extending the frame a few inches wouldnt be a problem for me. I just really love the ext. cab short beds and i need the solid axle and the extra legal weight abilities of the 350 over the 250 and the fact the didnt make them makes me want one even more. I'd be the only one that i know of.

You can get extended cab or a super cab with SRW.

They are REALLY tough to find though. Very tough.

I'd just say grab the 250 and throw a d60 in the front. Everyone wants to much for the 350's. and the front axle is the only difference.

well I guess that makes it easy, I'll just find a 250 then. I really wanted that solid axle but would rather have the extcab.
BTW around here the 250s/350s seems to go for around the same price.

If you swap cabs then you will still be stuck with the half ton Vin tags.

If you want the extra tow capacity a 3/4 wont work to good either, might have to settle for a crew cab one ton. 4 door single wheels arent to hard to find.

Closest you will get, unless it's already been done, is as said. Get yourself a clean F250 supercab, and source the Dana 60 and parts for the conversion. That's what i did, though it wasn't my intention when i got the truck, i just sort of fell into the "60". A brand new old stock dually axle i scored on ebay for $600 a couple years back.

I have a few pics of it. It needs some TLC on the body right now. I was hoping to get some of it taken care of this past summer, but it did nothing but rain all summer. Hopefully this coming summer will be nicer and let me get some stuff done on it.

They are rare, but in '96 and '97 they made an extended cab short bed F250 (as well as a crew cab short bed). So, if you really want an extended cab sold axle, buy it and swap the D60 in....its all bolt in, and would be much easier than a body swap. Thats what did, with my crew cab short bed. Everyone is right, the only extended cab F350 was a two wheel drive dually.

The D60 swap isn't too bad, worst part for me was getting all the old TTB stuff out of there...even though my oil cooler had lubricated the axle and bushings very well the inner bushing sleeves seemed to be gauled to the bolt or something....once it was out though it was like cake....here is my swap: For those that have done a D60 swap on F250 - Page 3 - Powerstroke Nation
