I posted thisin the 87 to 96 forum someone said I might have better luck down here.

I recently bought a 1994 Ford Superduty Dump <NOBR style="COLOR: darkgreen; FONT-SIZE: 100%; FONT-WEIGHT: normal" id=itxt_nobr_0_0>truck</NOBR>, I would like to know the maxium towing capacity and the max GVCWR. The truck has 7.3L diesel IDI, 5sp manual 2wd, 5.13 11k axel. it did not come with an owners manual. I bought one from helm but it does not seem to cover diesel engines. The truck weight is approx 8560 pounds acording to the scales at a sandpit. also the door jamb has a GVWR of 15K, but have been told it is a 14,500 truck.

The below info is for regular Fseries pickups towing RV trailers.....

Fseries with 7.3 and manual is:
355....12000lbs
410....14000lbs
513....17000lbs

 

what are these ratings with the auto PLC?

in wiki,under 9th gen 1992–1996/1997 trucks is:
Models:

* F-150: 1/2 ton (6,100 lb GVWR max)
* F-250: 3/4 ton (8,500 lb GVWR max)
* F-250 HD: 1992–1997 Heavy Duty 3/4 ton (9,000 GVWR max)
* F-350: 1 ton (10,000 lb GVWR max)
* F-Super Duty: 1 ton plus (15,000 lb GVWR max)

i assume the "super duty" is the f450 correct?

EDIT: oh,nevermind that last question.yup they are f450's cab/chassis.this info is under the eighth gen trucks.

FordF250 your info is the GVW for the vehicle........total loaded carrying capacity.

The auto is another 1000lbs towing capacity....... we all know ford under estimated theirs for towing in the 92-94 years.

 

So your saying with an auto you can actually tow more than with a ZF5?

 

Yes. PCL, are you sure about those 1000 lbs? I seem to recall the 4.10-geared slush-equipped 7.3 IDIs to be rated at 17k, and not 15k.
