A few years back (after taking 3 1/2 hours to get from the interstate to downtown Pigeon Forge) I swore (several times, profusely) that I would NEVER return to that town until there were better ways to get in and out of there. Is the traffic situation better than it was?

I take a different direction, but nope, it's the same, I laugh at those caught in it as I go to where I want.

Anyone know of an GOOD campgrounds with FULL hookups that might have space for this event?? Ive been to the spring and fall rod run about 6 times, but always stayed in a hotel or cabin, but hoping a travel trailer is in my near future.

The local KOA should be able to hook up. Coming up for the riffraff event?

You can get in and out of Pigeon Forge alot easier even with an RV. If you go in from Newport exit and take Dolly Parton Expressway that will lead you difectly to the KOA in Pigeon Forge. It is in a perfect location too. Trolley ride to Dollywood or walking distance to the strip. That way you don't have to drive anywhere.

Trust me it is alot easier to navigate if you know the back roads. And knowing what time of day to do it.
But then again it wouldn't be a trip to Pigeon Forge if you didn't cruise the strip.

I learned the back roads a long time ago, beautiful country out there, use them to get up the mountain too.

Aint that the truth!!! Half of the fun for me is sitting in traffic looking at all the cool cars/trucks, some that arent even close to street legal, and watching all the drunks on the sidewalks in lawn chairs

I would love too. I looked at the ad for the event, but can someone give me some more detail on what goes down??

I used to live in Western NC and east TN wasnt far for me at all, now I live in central carolina so its a 5+ hour trip. More if you count the detour around the world.

Anyone know what the timeline is for I-40 opening back up???

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...cial-info.html is the offical page

That is the offical page. Pretty much we take over a camp ground, set up the dyno wrench on trucks, have tech demos, go to the drag strip and pretty much have a great family time. Its worth it trust me, and best of all its FORDS ONLY!!!!!

I'40 back up, is that what they're calling it, 2 hours, it starts all the way back to The Smokey Mountain Knife Works, I see it when coming up Boyds Creek to go to the knife shop.

I was there before the rock slide too, if there is anything going on in Pigeon Forge, it backs all the way up to I-40, it's a joke, glad I know the back ways in.
