I bought my truck back in march of 09 so I have no idea what version of flash I have. I have a friend that is a diesel mechanic at ford who can hook me up on the newest flash that came out last november. I am not having any issues with the truck. My question is, should I get the newest flash with all of the ficm problems going on out there or just leave it alone since it is running good?

Great points about if not broke don't fix it...but that is not why I would do it...as Mark stated...look at the TSB and see the benefits and hear the testimonies of others...I think this is probably the first calibration flash in the last few years that actually makes sense.

The problem is, in 2007 when the inductive heat flash came out everybody
that go it swore by it, now they sware at it for part of their FICM demise. Ford back then thought they had the answer with this flash, how do you know that they got it right this time?
I would get it for fear that you MIGHT have the original FICM KILLER. $100 for the new flash is cheaper than $675 + install and whatever else in my book. Plus you get the troubleshooting features Bismic referred to. Or don't get it. Its up to you, but I got it- after a dead FICM, and on my dime. What is the voltage to the spools with the newest flash, 1/3 or 1/5 of what the "killer" was? Its a no-brainer to me. If he is a good friend, he won't steer you wrong.

Just for the record - I "rushed" to get the 2007 inductive heat flash and I have not had a hint of a FICM problem yet.
