01.29.10 - Winter Storm

Is everybody ready for the winter weather?

This could be the first time in a while we get to have fun with 4-wheel drives.

They say that the snow might reach us here in Grant county but we should only get about an inch. That is a good thing as the tranny went out in my truck again today. Luckly the thing is still under the 60 day warranty and the yard has to get me another one.

We probably have 4-5", although it is hard to tell because of the wind blowing the snow around. Some places you can see the pavement on the road and some places it is drifted 8-10". I-65 currently has 1 lane plowed and side roads are in pretty bad shape. Glad I'm in a 4x4.

I was working on the side of the road wednesday night on Hwy 80 just east of the Hindman exit. Coal truck had a wheel bearing fail on a trailer. Burned up the spindle. I replaced the spindle. I will be going through your town Monday on my way to Clintwood, VA.

We got a good 6" here in the western tip next to TN. This was a record for the past several years and much better than the ice storm we got 12 months ago. It got up to 28 with full sun after lunch so the plowed or high traffic roads were OK before the refreeze tonight. Things should be OK more work on Monday.

Let's see. Last week I went to Princeton Ky, Somerset Ky, Indianapolis In, Louisville a couple times. I do get around, with work that is!! I guess it looks like Buck ain't going to make it to London next saturday. Hopefully things will work out that he can make it.

BTW, if any of you guys out there haven't heard, there is a meet this saturday in London with some guys from Tennessee and a couple from Ohio. It's guys that spend time on the powerstroke forums on FTE. There is a thread in the Ky chapter with details.

We call that back east because those places are east of KY Lake.

We took the MH to the high point of Kingdom Come State Park this past summer. Man you have some hills up there compared to our river bottoms.
