Question Odd engine noises. Acts like the thottle position sensor but I dont know..

I have a few symptoms that I need to get some answers on.
Engine cold but cranks ok but a little sluggish. It's 14 degrees out and not plugged in. I had new glow plugs installed last year and doesn't smoke at all on start up. Romps a little then clears right up. I let the engine warm and when I start to drive it, it is like I lose throttle response but the engine doesn't lose rpms or power. It is almost like it goes on mute and all of the sudden the typical cold stroker injector clatter comes back and she takes off. I know about the ebpv and how it runs and I know that isnt it. I can tell the difference. I haven't seen this problem when the engine is warm.
In a nut shell The problem is the sporadic lack of throttle response and the muted engine sound. The engine still accelerates under the mute it is just quieter, much quieter. Then it all comes back and I have a bit more power and the noise is as it should be. Any ideas?

It could be the TPS, but it needs scanned. Autozone cannot scan a diesel. One of the gurus on here will chirp in a moment and tell you what kind of acanner to use.

From my exprience with the TPS...the throttle will work intermitly, and not give any warning at all when it decides to act up. I just replaced the whole accelerator pedal assmbly. Daniel you could go by a local shop with a good quality scanner to help you your scanning needs.
